Best Tree Podcasts for the Nature Lover in Us All

Think spring with these tree-related podcasts!

Currently, tree podcasts exist in a significantly small niche. However, with over 1 billion podcasts (and growing), this could change— and for a good reason!

Think about it. The entire world is experiencing a HUGE shift toward green living. This shift means more green options in stores, online, and in our ears!

So, let's jump right in! Are you a green industry professional, a novice gardener, or just a person who likes trees?

Check out these Podcasts

Ologies with Alie Ward- Alie's quirky and 'smart cookie' personality shines through in this fun & educational podcast. Dendrology Part 1 and Part 2 are a great place to start. Hint they're about trees. Alie's guest on these episodes is arborist/dendrologist Casey Clapp. These episodes are such a fun listen and NOT boring at all. I promise.

Completely Arbortrary- This is a hip & fun listen! Coming to us from the PNW, Casey Clapp & Alex Crowson talk about all things trees. Their unique take is that they rate trees on a scale of 0-10 using a system they call the Golden Cones of Honor.

Trees are Key with Paul Johnson- This podcast features short episodes. Most seem to be under 15 mins and are easy to listen to! Paul is the Urban and Community Forestry Coordinator for Texas A&M Forest Service. His career background in radio, news, and horticulture shines through in his tree podcast.

Talking Trees- Host Doug Oster talks trees with professional arborists. Episodes are released every Thursday. They touch on seasonal tree care, answer frequently asked questions, and more. This podcast will help you stay on the pulse of things happening in the tree world.

In Defense of Plants- "From the smallest duckweed to the tallest redwood, the botanical world is full of wonder." This podcast unearths expected details of the botanical world. Do you know how to calculate the age of a tree? You think you do, but in the episode How Old Are the Oldest Trees; ep. 338, you'll be surprised to hear there's actually a lot more to it than just counting tree rings. Episode 338 is a good starting point, followed by Urban Lichens ep. 339.

In Defense of Plants

The Plant a Trillion Trees Podcast- In episode 65, hosts Eva Monheim and Hal Rosner interview Chicago Region Trees Initiative's Melissa Custic. Melissa talks about what environmental justice means for the Chicago area and the importance of planting more trees. I'm just a bit excited to hear Chicago native Melissa Custic on this podcast! #TREEKOUT on this episode with me.

Trees a Crowd- We know you love trees but do you love British accents? David Oakes has the perfect podcasting voice for talking about trees and all things nature. In his last series, David digs into native trees of the British Isles, which is a nice escape from the humdrum of the same old thing.

Discovering Forestry- This podcast is for those who work in the green industry and among the trees. Hosts Joe and Korey have a fresh take on what's going on in the world of forestry and arboriculture. In the episode titled, Being Social, Joe, Korey, and their producer Cara discuss staying relevant, embracing social media, connecting, and the changes happening in the green industry. As Joe Aiken says, "If you're not growing, you're dying."

My Favorite Trees- Thomas Spadea drops his tree enthusiasm sharing knowledge about how trees have helped shape human culture, sharing tree stories, and just general info about trees he loves.
